Knox by Rachel Comey

While browsing for some new boots, I ran into this pair of rugged slash avant-garde pair from Rachel Comey. Don't they scream - "business in the front..."

"... party in the back"?

Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving may be over, but I have lots to be thankful about this year.

Over the past few days, I spent my birthday with my sister in Miami. Spa treatments and drinks poolside ensued at the Standard Spa Miami Beach, and we enjoyed beachside service at Soho Beach House later that weekend.

Then, it was back to New York en route to Boston for a few days of family time with the Mr. and many many slices of pie.

As we head into the holiday season, I'm thankful for my family, my friends, and my wonderful career, which continues to amaze and thrill me every day.

I'm also thankful for the little things that make my life more interesting. Thank you, Anthropologie for the quirky gift that made me smile during an especially difficult week- and thank you, Make Up For Ever for making Aqua Eyes waterproof eyeliner.

How was your Thanksgiving? What are you thankful for this holiday season?

Preen Reversible Brando Biker Jacket

This Preen Reversible Brando Biker Jacket hits all the right notes for me. First of all, it's Preen, and if I had the time and budget, I would buy at least one piece from the label every season. Secondly, I'm really feeling leather this season. And last, but not least, it's reversible and can be worn many ways. This is definitely an investment item, an edgy classic with multiple styling options.

Which styled look is your favorite?

EABURNS for when you're feeling whimsical

Flipping around on Not Just a Label the other day, I was hooked on a black harem onesie by EABURNS, a label based in London (pictured below from the label's SS 2011 collection). Out of curiosity, this lead me to Lizzie Burns's triangle jewelry via her website, which are not only whimsical and adorable looking (bright colors on trend, check!) but also sustainable/eco-friendly. Shop for leather triangle necklaces in all colors and sizes here.

Happy hump day everyone!

P.S. I'm on the hunt once again for new and brilliant talent to feature on my blog. So if you are a womenswear or accessories designer, please feel free to get in touch! dreamsequins (at) gmail.com.

One More Thing...

Lately I've been thinking about time, about my life, my job, my family, my life in New York and everything in between. I started thinking about Steve Jobs, about the state of the economy, and then suddenly, writing about fashion and blogging about accessories and luxury goods started to feel less relevant. In short, I was feeling disillusioned and uninspired.

But staying away from blogging has proved to be even more uninspiring. And lately, there have been a few occasions to blog about...

Good food...

Dumpling night with Carolyn!

Good company...

Stay tuned for a subtle shift in coverage on Dream Sequins as I gear up for the 3 year anniversary of the blog.

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." - Steve Jobs
