Shoe Sunday: Elizabeth and James

Saturday, August 20, 2011

Rhetorical question of the day: What is it about a great pair of shoes that makes a woman swoon, melt and grow puddley on the inside?

These Elizabeth and James navy suede booties are making me antsy for the fall...

Friday Shoutouts: Le Glasses

Friday, August 19, 2011

TGIF! We made it to Friday! It can never come quickly enough these days... And with Mercury in retrograde until the end of the month, the coming days feel long and merciless! Apparently, there's a little thing called New York Fashion Week coming up in less than a month. Here are some fun fashion + social media notes for your Friday morning....

UGG Collection Fall 2011

Thursday, August 18, 2011

When UGG Australia reached out to me about their first foray into high end footwear and bags, I was cautiously optimistic. After all, their casual, signature shearling boots are not my usual style. But after looking at the Fall lookbook for the debut of their "UGG Collection," I am sorry I missed the Fall preview event in New York. The capsule collection was inspired by rustic Italy, with pieces handcrafted in Italy - very luxe indeed. I would have loved a closer look at the following items...

Caprera wedge lace-up booties in an array of textures and textiles (above). My personal favorite is the indigo version (center) in baby haircalf.

I love the inherent styling flexibility of many of the footwear styles. The Cavalieri motorcycle inspired boot (above), which comes with a detachable shaft, and can be worn in its ankle length incarnation.

Mini cross-body bags are certainly trendy, but there's something sleek and classic about these Catania Mini Messenger bags (above). I definitely have my eye on the Army green version in vachetta leather.

The Fiorentina wedge boot which can be worn multiple ways: full length, quarter or half cuffed (as shown above).

Last but not least, the Rosetta Messenger (above) comes in deliciously buttery looking vachetta leather.

The UGG Collection drops at select retailers and at UGG Australia flagship stores starting September 1st. Which are your favorites?

Anthropologie Fall 2011: Color + Print

Monday, August 15, 2011

Last week, I dropped by the Anthropologie showroom for a Fall 2011 blogger preview. From the moment, I spotted tables of adorable candy and cake pops and walls lined with inspiration boards and textiles, I knew I was in for a treat.

This coming Fall, Anthropologie will be embracing color and print, with a nod to Japan.

In addition to viewing the pieces, we were given an opportunity to style ourselves in head to toe Fall. A fabulous stylist from Anthropologie helped me put together my bohemian ensemble below- which you can see is a departure from my usual minimalist grey palette. I had fun stepping out of my comfort zone that night and will definitely try to mix it up a bit more this coming season.

And here are some official lookbook images from Anthropologie...

Will you be wearing color or print this coming season? Which look is your favorite?

Cacharel Fall 2011

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

To continue the floral theme from a recent post: I'm loving these printed yet sophisticated Fall 2011 dresses from Cacharel, the French brand synonymous with exuberant prints. Chinese designers Dawei Sun and Ling Liu will be taking creative reins at the company this coming season and it should be interesting to see where they take the brand.

How do you incorporate print into your wardrobe?

Lately I've been on the hunt for a floral jacket to sweeten up a tough maxi dress or to lend a touch of whimsy to neutral office appropriate separates. Here are three of my picks (from left to right):

Would you wear a floral jacket? How would you style it?

Buy This: Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash

Saturday, August 6, 2011

Recently, the Mr. and I stayed at the W Montreal and got upgraded to a fabulous suite for a few days. But what got me more excited than our upsized room were the Bliss products lined up neatly on our his and her sinks. I fell in love with the Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash, and will admit that I copped a few samples from the room. Now that I'm running low, I think I'm going to purchase a full size of this on my own... The floral fragrance is not too overpowering and the exfoliating beads are gentle on skin. For all skin types.

Buy now via Bliss.

Why don't you... read about Diana Vreeland?

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

"What do I think about the way most people dress? Most people are not something one thinks about." -- Diana Vreeland

D.V. - I need to learn more about her. Something tells me she would have been amazing in the age of social media and 140 character limits.

Jumping for Jumpsuits!

Tuesday, August 2, 2011

There's nothing more alluring to me right now than a bright jumpsuit. Here are four of my favorite current picks.

How many jumpsuits do you own? Do you think this is a good alternative to the summer dress?
