I just purchased a maxi tank dress, but for a more demure, slightly avant-garde look, I'm loving this ash colored tee-shirt dress with a sheer mesh back and gathered detail from Bread and Butter. Love the styling possibilities with such a minimalistic shape...

I would definitely wear a maxi dress given that I found one that suited my petite frame and didn't dwarf me in height haha. I love the neutral colour of the one you bought, it let's the finer details like the gathered hem and mesh back stand out more. I've actually been thinking of getting the Rachel Pally Long Fortuna dress in the cream colour for a wedding I'm going too in September. I just love the long flowy-ness and simplistic nature of the overall silhouette, which means I can go nuts on the accessories without looking like I'm nuts (hopefully). Great post D!

i'm a huge fan and have been for some time. i find them easier to wear than shorter dresses because it takes pressure off the shoe choice :-P
a black maxi dress is the perfect solution when you arent feeling creative and dont know what to wear. you'll always looks great!
i love maxi dresses! they are comfortable, feminine, different and you're right - they do look good on many body types. i was hesitant to try them at first, but i think it's the fact that they usually flow out from just below the chest, making it look like you have long legs, that makes them good for anyone.
this is a trend i've avoided b/c i'm very short and small - i'm still not sure if it will work but maybe i'll give it a try just in time for my holiday in europe =)
i love a pretty, pretty maxi dress with great jewelry in the summer. it makes us girls feel extra feminine, i think :)

that dress looks cool with the drapery detail on the side.. I love maxi dresses but unfortunately, really small girls like me, who happen to have also wide hips... can't wear maxi dresses at all.. I have to settle with other delicious garments..
