A moment frozen in time...

These are the central nostalgic themes at the heart of the Fall/Winter 2010 collection for womenswear label Creatures of the Wind. I have been a big fan of the Chicago-based brand and recently had the opportunity to stop by their presentation at Chelsea Hotel during New York Fashion Week. This collection had a vintage richness which I loved- both in theme, materials and silhouette... For Spring 2010, designers Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters designed around the theme of the vulnerable transition of a girl into womanhood with an unapologetically feminine collection and for Fall 2010, they took a converse approach - mature, ladylike pieces in vintage-inspired shapes with some looks incorporating deadstock materials such as brocade in dark blue and black with flashes of gold throughout. Think early 60s with a modern polish.

I love the pink cape, it is so beautiful.
That lilac cape is amazing!
♥
I absolutely love the gold dress at the top, as well as the dress with the blue roses. Thanks for sharing, since I had not heard of this label!
I love the one with the hat. Hats makes such a great statement. Excited about the gold backdrop!
NOt that I could ever pull it off or anything, but I kind of love the dress with the big rosettes on the bodice! That backdrop is some kind of loud, too!!!
Have I ever told you how jealous I am of your life? :)
Oh goodness I am head over heels with this.
Love looks 5 & 7! Fab smokey eyes too.
I love how the designers have used luxe fabrics with old-fashioned connotations to make clothes with such contemporary lines and detailing!
Gorgeous!! I want that pink cape!!

Love them - especially the pink one. :D
I love EVERYTHING!
Beautiful cape with great sihouette, I've been looking for a coat with a statement shape. Also loving the gold and black outfit at the top, need a shirt like that in my wardrobe! x
I am pretty sure I love them all, but my favorite one is the second photo featured. I love that is has mixed quite a few fabrics and textures, yet it doesn't seem like too much. I am mad for the top especially, although I am pretty keen on the skirt too!
Really a beautiful collection, thanks for sharing, I wasn't familiar with them at all.
I'm in love with those shoes and the pattern and texture of the pants in the last photo. I have a pair that are remarkably similar that I bought when I was 20 and living in Paris. I loved them and wore them so much...the fabric was fabulous. I still have them even though there is no way in hell that they will fit me anymore. I will never get rid of them. fabulous all around
this is really beautiful. truly.
This collection is the perfect infusion of modern and vintage, I have a love for both, will try infusing them in my own wardrobe!
