Weekend Links: Gold Medal Edition

Friday, February 26, 2010

Normally, I don't make a fuss about the Olympics or ice skating, but tonight was history in the making. Yu-Na Kim, at the age of 19, came into the free skate competition in Vancouver, with the weight of great expectations from her home country, which also happens to be my parents' home country... and she skated a flawless, beautiful, elegant and powerful program tonight, to win the gold medal. Congratulations, Yuna. I definitely cried a little tonight.

In the aftermath of New York Fashion Week, and work being crazy busy, I haven't had time to catch up on my blog reading, but I plan to do just that this weekend. In the meantime, please do take time to visit the following bloggers, who have been among the top commenters this week. You are all winners in my book; thank you for your continuing support.
This weekend, I'm planning to attend a fundraiser, baby shower, romantical dinner with the Mr. (to make up for Valentine's Day happening during Fashion Week) and brunch with Denise of The OCD... All while trying to stay dry! What are your plans for the weekend?

I'm so excited that I'm off to an outdoor concert at a winery tomorrow, to watch Katie Noonan (her voice is simply divine!) and Diana Krall :)

Hope you have a FAB weekend!

She was incredible, so graceful. I cried when I was at a Canada Womens Hockey game, the crowd really overwhelmed me with their patriotism.

Yu-Na Kim is a beautiful girl and an impeccable skater, and her gold medal is well-deserved! However, I think a lot of Canadians were more touched by Canadian skater Joannie Rochette's bronze medal. Has her story gotten much coverage in American press? Rochette's mother passed away unexpectedly two days before she was supposed to skate in the short program and she delivered the performance of a lifetime. I can't listen to her story without getting choked up.

Happy friday, Deanne!
Finally weekend!;)

Was so touched to hear about Joannie Rochette´s story and the tragic death of her mom ...

Have a beautiful weekend ahead, D!!!
