With just days to go until New York Fashion Week, we decided to compile a list of ten designers/labels to watch this season... Yesterday we revealed part 1 of our Top 10 list of independent designers. The designers for part 2 are just as dreamy as the last five! Here they are in no particular order...
RISTO

For his debut collection for Risto at New York Fashion Week last season, designer Risto Bimbiloski, who also works as a knitwear consultant for Louis Vuitton menswear, showed strong digital prints inspired by lightning and lava. We are excited to see what the Macedonian wonder will bring this season.
JEREMY LAING

Canadian designer Jeremy Laing brought a chalky palette to his collection for S/S '10, using subtle thin materials such as tulle to create base layers for rectangular tunics. Will he bring bold color into the fold for his F/W collection?
KATIE GALLAGHER

We missed the debut of Katie Gallagher's collection last season, but we are looking forward to her signature dark, wrapped layers. There is more to her garments than meet the eye, as each piece is designed to literally wrap around the body. For F/W '10, in lieu of her debut collection's all-black palette, we can look forward to splashes of cream and grey.
MANDY COON

DJ-turned-designer Mandy Coon debuted her eponymous label last season, and while most of her collection embraces a dark, Nordic fashion feel, we are enamored with the playful prints on this dress (shown above). We are looking forward to her show for F/W '10.
VPL

Soft layers of dreamy beige accented with dashes of navy and orange made for a very dreamy S/S '10 show for VPL. I fell in love with the swimsuit pieces and the draped vacation-worthy tunics.

I love that dress in the photo for Jeremy Laing. Katie Gallagher's concept of wrapping around the body sounds very neat. I also love the print of that Mandy Coon dress!
Hey D! Love the puffy shoulders/sleeves in the 3rd K. Gallagher look. I do like VPL's tough aesthetic too. Looking forward to reading your posts on NYFW! xo, Mel
Great picks! Are you going to be at the VPL show? I might see you there if you are!
excellent choices-i also look forward to seeing what jeremy laing and katie gallagher show this season-and victoria bartlett for vpl is a perennial favorite for me.
OMG...... so many stunning collections! i like the colours at RISTO, jeremy laing looks pretty casual chic from here :) katie gallagher is more on the eccentric side - the mandy coon print is ROOOAR! and the draperies at VPL catched my attention at all!
