Brooklyn-based artist and designer
Shabd Simon-Alexander uses hand dyeing techniques to create unique clothing that is more than just easy on the eyes-- they are pieces with depth and feeling. For the past few seasons, the designer has been experimenting with tie-dye techniques for her label,
Shabd. Despite the limited edition nature of her collections, basic pieces, such as bodysuits and leggings, available online at shops such as
Stand Up Comedy and
Not Just a Label as well as
her own online boutique, are more affordable than you might think. Right now, I'm in love with the soft romanticism of her S/S '10 collection lookbook. The prints remind me of blurry watercolor flowers.

Gorgeous! I love how they don't look like the typical tie-dye (aka 60s hippie). It's like Monet on a garment!

I love it! I been looking for this kind of patterned clothes, fantastic that people can create just what you want.
I've tried to do the same on my own, and the result is pretty the same, but I'm not so brave to put on this kind of clothes when I go out...so I especially love the pieces in bright colours!
