I will be the first one to plead ignorance about matters of eco fashion design. Before I checked out The GreenShows last season during New York Fashion Week, I was under the misguided assumption that eco fashion often lacked in the design category. But after seeing the stellar talent from last season, I'm just as excited about the shows coming up next month. After researching some of the GreenShows designers who will be showing for Fall 2010, I found myself enchanted by the softly draped silhouettes of Beryl Man, the Royal College of Art graduate, who launched Ajna in 2007, her socially responsible womenswear label, after stints at Donna Karan, Calvin Klein and working under Hussein Chalayan at Tse. Inspired by shapes in nature and applying a high fashion, intellectual sensibility to eco-friendly materials with a particular attention to knits, Man is definitely a designer to watch this season.
