CRHEE Spring 2010 Lookbook

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of New York-based womenswear label CRHEE (you can read the full profile on Dream Sequins here). I had a chance to peek at the Spring 2010 collection from a visit to the studio of designer Christine Rhee and couldn't wait to share these images with you. On my wishlist from the new collection? Elegant reversible silk tanks which hang from the body in the most flattering way, dresses with draped low backs and suggestive slices at the waist, a cozy jumpsuit meant to be worn rolled up at the ankles to showcase the fetish shoes du jour and black and white digital prints on matte silk tops. I'm also craving a pair of the collection's natural-waist silk shorts, which add just the right touch of playfulness to a cocktail ensemble. While there are many pieces in the label's signature monochromatic colors, deep hues of purple and maroon add additional shots of drama.

Could someone please send me a time machine so I could jump to Spring '10 and start wearing these pieces right now? K thanks bye...

Be sure to check out http://www.crhee.com for the label's revamped website, including pictures of the current collection and purchasing information.

Postcards From My Hometown Update

For the first installment of a project I called "Postcards From My Hometown," I challenged my lovely readers to send postcards to two randomly selected people around the world. About 60 people signed up for this project. Thank you so much for contributing to the project's success! I received a few lovely cards myself (including an extra card or two from some thoughtful participants!) and wanted to share them and other images of postcards that bloggers sent to me... In this day of e-mail, Twitter and text messages, it's nice to receive a piece of handwritten snail mail.

Howdy, Houston!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! The Mr. and I went to Houston to visit friends and chill by the pool. The weather was gorgeous, though a bit on the hot and humid side. We stayed at the St. Regis, which we would recommend for comfort and a quiet neighborhood.

The Mr. and I being "romantical" in Houston

On Friday evening, we hit this amazing cocktail bar called Anvil, which subscribes to the careful cocktail-making ethos which is very much in fashion at the moment (our friends told us that the bar even purchased a $20,000 ice machine because they were obsessed with perfect ice cubes).

Anvil

On Saturday, we hit some boutiques in the Montrose area, and I'm kicking myself for forgetting my camera's battery that day. There were so many great affordable independent boutiques, and I scored a few dresses, a great faux leather quilted jacket and some vintage pieces.

Vintage-inspired floral print dress from Wish

Navy studded and fringe-y dress from Nonno

After recharging with some wine at our friend's immaculately decorated flat (think DWR meets art deco pieces), we dropped by The Galleria to gawk at the merchandise. I also had to try on some very expensive over the knee boots. You know, just to say hi.

Chilling at our friend's triplex. Like I died and went to interior design heaven.

On Saturday evening, we had dinner at RDG + Bar Annie, which not only had divine Southwestern inspired cuisine, but a Houston "seen and be seen" vibe that was amusing for its blondest blonde patrons and on the way out, a table of local socialites dressed up in glittering Indian costumes.

On Sunday, we spent time by the pool, before heading to the airport. We enjoyed our time in Houston very much. It was my first time there, and surely not my last!

Staying cool by the pool...

Weekend Links: Houston, We Have a Problem!

You know how I said I was finished with posting New York Fashion Week pictures? Well, I couldn't resist posting these style photos. It would be selfish of me to keep these to myself... From the Preen Line party at the Soho Grand...

Lynn Yaeger, fashion writer, style icon. Love her so much. I saw her at most of the shows I attended. And she was yawning at Erin Wasson. LOL.

Fabiola Beracasa, who apparently writes for Interview now, huddled in a fashion sandwich with an unknown beauty and the designers for Preen.

By the time most of you read this, I will be on a plane, headed to Houston for the weekend. Why Houston, you ask? Because it's probably the furthest you could get from the buzzing metropolis that is New York City. I'm feeling a little burnt out from Fashion Week and my dayjob, and in need of some serious R and R. Rain was forecast for Miami and New Orleans and since the Mr. and I have friends in Houston, we decided to go there. Anyone have suggestions for things to do, places to see? The Mr. and I also finalized plans for our five year wedding anniversary trip next month: two weeks in Tokyo and Thailand. I am dreaming about all the food, shopping and spa treatments our trip will yield as I type... Ahhhhhhhhh. It's time to relax.

Hope you enjoy one of the first weekends of Fall, and if you have time, please visit these weekend links:

Style Bite just posted some of my guest editor picks or "bites" from Opening Ceremony. Check them out. I think I'm ready for Fall right now!

I am very jealous of the bloggers who got to attend London Fashion Week. Check out Street Style London for some amazing street style and Wolf Whistle, among other fashion blogs for coverage!

The Swelle Life is giving away a Parisian inspired top from Supanya. Deadline is this Sunday. So enter now!

Savvy Mode is giving away a black diamond pendant. So awesome. Enter here!

Carlotta My Way is giving away amazing skincare. Check it out!

And if you're just catching up on Dream Sequins, you can catch:
An Award!

I want to thank the lovely Haute Shopper for bestowing a "Divine" award on my blog. She has been studiously profiling boutiques around the world on her blog, and I love visiting for my vicarious thrills.

The name of the game is to list five guilty pleasures in life. What are yours?

Mine are:
(1) TV shows (Mad Men and Glee top my list at the moment);
(2) A deep and abiding love for wine (especially of the bubbly variety);
(3) Spa treatments (although I've been so busy that I haven't had as much time to indulge as much as I would like);
(4) Twitter ;) and
(5) Online shopping.

I would like to tag the following five bloggers who are MY guilty pleasures at the moment (to borrow the phrasing from Ms. Haute Shopper):

Ciao Chessa! (she's just awesome, alright?? a talented photographer)

Lady Lunacy (another amazing photographer and her blog is just amazing- check out her NYFW backstage shots- GORGEOUS)

vitaMinn style (she is oh so creative and divine with her style)

Nini Style (OMG this girl recently rocked over the knee boots like crazy and inspired me to try them out myself)

alixrose (we recently hung out at Fashion Week and I already miss her!)

What will you be doing this weekend??

Coco Avant Chanel + A Giveaway!

Coco Avant Chanel (they are releasing it in the States as "Coco Before Chanel" but I stick by the original title; feels more glamorous) will be opening in certain US theaters on Friday and the biopic of Chanel's early years looks just delicious. I am a fan of Audrey Tatou's waifish beauty, even if I haven't always loved her film choices (we will have to save a discussion of the vicious undertones in "Amelie" for another day).

Director Anne Fontaine said that her inspiration for the project began when she read a once out of copy biography called Chanel and Her World, written by an editor at French Vogue and confidante of the legendary designer. I had never read the biography before, so I ordered myself a copy on Amazon, and an extra copy for one of my lucky readers! Enter to win a classy hardback copy now before they release one of those cheesy "As Adapted for Film Starring Audrey Tatou" paperback covers with Audrey's mug plastered on the front.

After all... it's been a while since the last giveaway. So here's something for you, dear followers of Dream Sequins. Thank you for reading and good luck! Bisous!

A Quiet Weekend... Not!

Despite my hope for a quiet weekend after a whirlwind experience at New York Fashion Week, the Mr. and I met up with some lovely fashion bloggers and their significant others for dim sum on Saturday, hosted friends for casual drinks at our place on Saturday night and then booked it over to Boston to celebrate his grandmother's 90th birthday on Sunday. My husband and his family are Chinese-American and they sure know how to throw a feast! Twelve courses of amazing food...

At Dim Sum Go Go on Saturday. Left to right: Iyam of Style and Beyond, Thumbelina of Thumbelina Fashionista, Lynn of All Things NYC and yours truly

I couldn't resist snapping Thumbelina's stylish peep toe heels and Lynn's amazing boots

With the Mr. He's rocking his favorite Margiela tee, a linen Muji scarf and a pair of kung fu shoes from Chinatown. I'm wearing an H&M lace tee, a pair of shorts from a Hong Kong market and flats from Steven Alan.

The gorgeous Thumbelina and her husband. I put stars on their faces because they are stars and wish to preserve their anonymity ;)

Casual drinks Chez Sequins on Saturday night

Our guests always have the best shoes!

Sunday on Newbury Street. I'm wearing a Wren dress, H&M jacket, Pleats Please scarf, Chloe sunglasses, Furla bag and a pair of my favorite brown wedges.

Louis Boston: Closed on Sunday, when I wanted to shop. WTF?

I love their building, though. So gorgeous.

Part of the crazy twelve course meal. Lobster is my favorite!

Two cakes for Grandma!

Traditional "peach" pastries with lotus filling. They are only served for birthdays. Aren't they dreamy looking?

A really fun but full weekend... Hope you have a great week! P.S. Somehow I found my pictures featured on Chicisimo. I look like such a dork on there with all the chic style bloggers. But if you feel like voting for me, head over here. :)

NYFW Diaries: The Finale Bow

New York Fashion Week is now a happy blur in my memory, and I had an amazing time overall. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the rest of my week. I spent many hours catching up on sleep this weekend. I think I'll be back to my normal self by Monday. Sad to be missing London, though! After looking through my blurry runway shots, I have developed a new respect for fashion photographers...
