When the Mr. and I went to Houston recently, we loved exploring charming streets of boutiques and antique stores. It was refreshing to see so many people browsing the racks at independent stores and actually buying things. I scored this granny-chic floral dress at one such store. It may be an awkward length (hitting mid-calf), but it's perfect for showcasing a pair of awesome boots, such as these Jil Sander cropped boots (circa 2003 I think?) which were languishing in the back of my closet. I remember buying them and thinking that the height of the shaft was awkward, but they were on sale at Jeffrey, and I loved the stacked heel. Years later, I'm thanking myself for the foresight because they have these amazing thin leather strips that criss-cross and fasten around the ankles (think: Isabel Marant or Balmain boots).
Speaking of florals-- I re-discovered some travel photos from a trip the Mr. and I took to Vietnam about two years ago. We are getting ready to head to Asia for our fifth year wedding anniversary. In just two weeks time, we will be in Thailand, on our first trip to that country, exploring Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket. I can't wait to head to that part of the world again because our trip to Vietnam was so amazing. We especially loved Hanoi for its tree-lined streets and Halong Bay for its unreal landscape, beautiful shadowy cliffs at sunrise. Hope these pictures from Vietnam bring you a little joy today...

Came to say hi & that I saw your comment on Jak & Jil & it made me smile. When I saw him proclaim that post the.. what was it, 'single most outstanding moment of fashion week' I thought, hang on: surely that's your own opinion, right? I mean, each of us have our own single most outstanding moments, surely...
but going by the adage, if you don't have anything nice to say... still, I loved your comment re: the pedicure ; )

I love the dress on you. So lovely! Also, those photos are great!
So pretty! I love how the outfit is mainly black but edged in floral. And those boots are amazing...
Beautiful pictures, D!
And I have a pair of boots like that too...such an odd height. One day I'll figure out what to do with them.
That dress is stunning! I love how a lot of older items that might be stuck in your closet seem to be coming back into style before the usual 10-15 year recycle rules. Jil Sander has always been way ahead of her time. Except this collabo effort with Uniqlo, it's passe.
What a gorgeous post, darling ~ you look amazing!
