I’ve often thought the frumpier the vintage dress, the funkier its potential.
I see it as a challenge, of sorts.

Take this little ditty, which I bet looks just like the outfits your Great Aunt Ethel wore on Sundays.
Shorten the hem, undo a few buttons, wear it with boots that would make Ethel lose her lunch, et voila.
You’ve funked the frumpiness right out of the dress.

Ahh, Kelsey really does know how to spice up a vintage piece. I've always been jealous of her finds. But the hemming is such a great idea. Now all I need is to find the perfect dress to modify...
Hope you're having a great time by the way! I forgot to mention that you should try out the Thai street kitchens. I know some of them might look dodgy, but they're cheap, good and about as authentic as Thai food can get (just watch the spices). I even had mussels at one of them and was convinced I'd probably die of food poisoning, but I never had any problems!

I want to know how you did the hemming. I am not sure whether I own a needle even, so if we don't have a sewing machine, can we still do the hemming? It's hard to find dresses like these though, a lot more people are getting smarter and snatching them from the thrift stores. Blah!

I have a long dress that I just shortened. Hoping it doesn't look as frumpy. I may even go shorter ;)

I thought the dress looked fine as it was. I am seeing way too many hemmed dresses lately. Hemming on vintage should be done very selectively. Right now short dresses are trendy but it won't be long before longer lengths are back in. Knee length is classic I would have left it alone.
