from the Y-3 S/S '10 show
Today was my last day of shows, and I'm a bit brain dead. Please excuse the lazy style post. I ran into the lovely Trish and Mo of Smashing Darling, and over lunch in Soho, we had a bit of a laugh over how my writing over at Dossier Journal was going for New York Fashion Week. "You know," I said. "The most difficult part is that I've been running out of ways to say 'elegant,' 'draping' and things like that to describe the clothes."
I will return to do a full recap of some of my favorite shows during my crazy whirlwind Fashion Week experience, but I leave you with a "Runway Review Mad Libs" (feel free to print it out and play along at home!) and a picture (above) of the Y-3 show, which ended with a few fun soccer-style kicks by models and Yohji Yamamoto himself. Probably the only show where I found myself laughing out loud in delight before the finale.
Runway Review Mad Libs (fill in the brackets)
At the [season] [year] show for designer [ridiculous name], [color] and [color] dominated the runway, which was a(n) [adjective] change from last season. The silhouette was [adjective] and [adjective], reminiscent of [slightly obscure pop cultural reference] mixed with [noun]. Standouts included a [color] [item of clothing], [color] [fabric treatment/embellishment] [item of clothing] and most of the [items of clothing]. A(n) [adjective] effort.

That mad libs is way too funny! Can't wait for your official review to fill the missing adjectives and superlatives! We can fill it as we please but nobody does it like you do! ;)
Haha, loved the runway mad libs! Brilliant! :)
xx
LOL!!
I love the idea of Runway Mad Libs! The problem is I'm reading it - it won't work this way! I'm going to pull the list out and see if I can get someone else to do it - perhaps my poor unsuspecting husband, Mr. Dot.
Okay, that's my two cents, now back to reading the rest of your brilliant post.
I so wish you were coming here for LFW!

I for one have been loving your writing. I can imagine that you must be completely exhausted. I'm in for Fall 2010 if you need a photographer so I can keep you company and we can be exhausted together...

Ooh, even I could write that review, without having been to a single show!
Glad you had a great time and I can't wait to hear all about it :)
Great mad libs template - now i can rip that off for my own show reviews - woot!
sounds like such a crazy but fun week. Did you have to take time off work for that? What do you do if you don't mind me asking?
I've been enjoying your fashion week coverage over the past week. I can imagine that you must be very tired, but you are doing a great job! Love the Mad Libs :)
This makes me laugh ... I love it! It was great to sit and have lunch. :)

Yeah, I think your mad libs pretty much summed it up ;-) I'd be interested to hear what you thought of it. I must confess I haven't really been paying too much attention, but what I saw (with a few exceptions such as the usual: Rodarte etc.) had me slightly underwhelmed. I'll probably reserve any judgement for after London, Milan and Paris though...
I love it the Mad Libs is hilarious! I hope you get some much needed R&R!!
Runway mad libs= perfection!!!
Now it's all coming together, Deanne+Dream sequins.....
