So I just posted this message on Twitter, and even though it's incredibly cheesy, I'm so grateful for the unexpected friendships and camraderie that writing this blog and connecting with you all has provided in my life. And yes, I'm not a total loser! I do have friends in real life. It's just that this is an unexpected fringe benefit. So thank you! Thank you for being you! :)
Another thing I'm thankful for today? This amazing collage from Etrapar. She's doing a Young Professional Women series where, if you give her your total budget and fill out a brief questionnaire, she will magically produce a work outfit of your dreams via handy collage. Here's what she picked out for me for under $500:
A reader recently asked me to share a picture of the Mr. and while I was going through some older photos, I stumbled across this gem taken on the rooftop of the SFMOMA during our early dating years. (Yeah-- I was kind of obsessed with vampires in early 2003! You read it here first: the Mr. and I were early movers on vampire mania. Creepy good, right?)

I love that picture with you and the hubby! And I agree that the blogging/Twitter experience allows you to interact with some great people. You are not a cheeseball, just being honest :)
Gorgeous photo - thanks for obliging with my request! I am a total cheeseball too and i'm so grateful to have discovered your blog and "met" you as a friend. That's my fave part actually about blogging is connecting with all the wonderful peeps out there.
I look forward to reading it everyday, and hopefully, one day I can come party with you in NYC. You know you have friends here in Vancouver anytime!
Ahaha. It reminds me of a conversation I just had with my husband:
Me: I have "virtual" friends.
Him: And that makes you a "real" nerd.
He's just jealous.
@Sheena Yeah interacting with wonderful people... like you :)
@Livie: The photo is hilarious, right? Hee hee. I really really want to just hop on a plane and party with you cool Vancouverians (is that how you say it?).
@TheAnthology: The Mr. is totally jealous of my "virtual" friends. Haha! But he reads my comments everyday to see if anyone is commenting about him. One time, when I published the first debut photo of his on Dream Sequins, he scrolled through EVERY SINGLE comment and found one that complimented his looks and he said "Oh I have a fan!!!" LOL
we love you, too, DS!!
oh, man, too bad twilight didn't come out then! that photo is haunting but really stylish!
Very creepy good. =D
Tell the hubs I am a fan - who wouldn't be getting hitched to a wonderful chick like you!!
Luvs & Hugs right back to you D! So looking forward to meeting you on Tuesday!
XOXO MG
ps - The Mr. can always start a bloggy too...
I agree about the blogging part. I have met so many wonderful people--you included!
I've loved vampires forever. Did you see Dracula 2000? It's a horrible movie if you're a movie snob; it's an amazing movie if you love vampires. Oh and the best part? Gerald Butler as Dracula (before he was famous)!
Hehe it's Vancouverites and yes please visit here cuz I would love to meet you! It's not cheesy at all, I agree that connecting with other like-minded people is the most rewarding part of blogging.
that message was so sweet! and so true! i don't have that many super close friends in real life, but blogging has opened up a whole lot of killer friendships and that is a good thing!
and i love the under $500 items!!! excellent choices!
and i am kind of on the vampire thing right now. vampire sex sounds incredibly appealing to me. i know. cheese factor eleven, but don't shoot me for it. or stake me for it. :)
I LOVE YOU D!!!!!!!!!
So glad to have met you and blog and twitter with you everyday!!! You are an endless source of inspiration and an effing amazing friend.
TOMORROW-COFFEE BEAN!!!!!!! I like it way better too.
AND I just got a postcard today!!!
From The Anthology...and there she is!
Thanks for doing that D...it brought a smile to my grumpy withdrawling from the internet face fo sho! :)
Do I count as a real-life friend or a blog friend? Hmmm...!
Cute picture! You guys look so chill.
And the interaction that comes with blogging is pretty great. It's harder to meet new people I think as you age, or even as an awkward teen in high school, and blogging seems like a great way for many to express themselves and come out of their shells a little bit.
twitter has helped me find a lot of cool people too. that picture with you and you husband is cool. i'm a total cheeseball too so i can relate.
What a sweet message. :) We don't know each other well but I enjoy reading your blog and hope to get to know you better.
That is a great collage she put together for you, and that pic *is* creepy good.
...I agree with your thoughts on the twitter/blogging world...its so much fun to connect with people all over the world who have the same interests as you - speaking of that, I have to find you on twitter lol...and thanks for always stopping by
Agree on what you tweeted... or is it twat... (sorry I don't know the past tense of tweet!)
Seriously, I do agree. I've only been blogging for less than 2 months and already have met fabulous ladies here. Virtual friends, yes, but I think I could be good friends with in real life too...
I still don't get this whole tweeter thing but keep on tweeting! =)
The feeling is mutual! I love how the fashion blogging world is so supportive.
haha great photo of your mr! xxx
love the dress, and is it the bracelet...? nice matchy color!!!
I love the picture of you two! So pretty.
darling, I'm so glad that you liked your outfit!!! what matters is to see all my work ending with happines ^.^
kisses
it might be cheesy but it feels so good to give and get love sometimes...
there are so many gifted and lovely people in great blogland that sometimes you just need to stop and say things like this :))
hope you are having a great day, xoxo
You are so sweet! I'm happy I met you through blogging too!! One of my favorite parts of having a blog is meeting all the really sweet and cool people online who really do become friends.
And that pic of you and your husband is awesome!
Great photography! I'm into vampires and witches,too...read many Anne Rice books.
I also feel the friendship in the blog world...in fact, met my new friend Grace thru blogging! And soon I'll be meeting two fabulous NYC bloggers as well. Thank you blogosphere.
Enjoy your Labour Day holiday!
I love that photo!!!!
I know exactly how you feel, I am so thankful as well...and I am very thankful for you!
i'm catching up on my reading this weekend, and just want to say that you are my cheesiest virtual friend - jk - you're great!
i totally agree with you. i think fashion bloggers especially are far from being losers but it is such a blessing to 'meet' others with the same interests ;)
