If you want to read a fashion blog written from the perspective of a different sort of fashion insider, a working fashion designer who can dish the dirt from the trenches of New York's garment district, look no further than 39th and Broadway. The writer behind 39th and Broadway not only shares insider perspectives on the fashion industry, but entertains readers with glimpses of "only in New York" moments, snapshots of events and observations on life in the buzzing area around the intersection referenced in the blog's name. Written in a very informal, conversational style, reading 39th and Broadway feels like you're sharing a coffee break with a colleague, catching up on the latest industry gossip. Five Questions for My Favorite Bloggers
Who are you?
I am fashion designer, which sounds way more fabulous than it really is. I’ve been working for about 10 years in the industry and have designed for several brands, big and small. I absolutely love what I do but at times am exhausted from the intensity of it all. Still, getting paid to be creative, travel abroad, and shop has its perks!
Where are you?
I live in the best city in the world, NYC and am happy to be working in New York’s Garment Center.

What is the concept behind your blog?
It started because of the desire to share stories, advice, and thoughts on what it’s really like working in the fashion industry. While there are a lot of fashion blogs there wasn’t much in regards to the behind the scenes life of people working in the industry. Especially for the thousands who work on clothing found at your local department store or mall not just the couture side of the business. Also, I have a passion for promoting domestic production and keeping the historic Garment Center the heart of New York fashion. So the blog is a combination fashion blog, industry blog, and neighborhood blog!
When you are not blogging, what else do you enjoy doing?
I’m pretty much a workaholic. Fashion is my life, at work, while blogging, and while shopping in my spare time. I’ve finally accepted that my “passion for fashion” is a bit obsessive and I really need to get a hobby. I’ve tried yoga but I just kept thinking of all the work I could be doing instead of focusing on my postures!

More importantly. what are you wearing? :)
Ok, here’s a laugh for everyone, this is what I was wearing [the other night]. La Perla mesh panties (luxurious under-things really make a girl feel good), an old Rock & Republic T-shirt, and my husband’s Hockey Jersey (because his team was losing and thought this would break the jinx)! Now, as if this is not goofy enough, I had to break in my new yet too narrow, Tory Burch shoes. So, I was walking around half dressed in a hockey jersey and designer heels with wool socks! You’re welcome for the laugh at my expense.

She seems so fabulous yet so down to earth. I love the promotion of the garment district, and I totally relate to trying to do yoga or pilates and just thinking about fashion/work-one and the same for me too!
