Weekend Links: TGIF Edition!

above: photo of me, Phillip Lim and friends at the APEX event

My husband just joined the board of APEX, a wonderful nonprofit in New York providing mentoring and educational services to inner city Asian American youth. This week, the organization hosted its annual fundraiser gala at the Rubin Art Museum and among the honorees were designer Phillip Lim, chef David Chang and illustrator Kam Mak. I was really impressed with how humble Phillip was, even telling a friend that he was more nervous accepting the APEX award that night than he was receiving the CFDA award! Despite the recession, WWD reported this week that 3.1 Phillip Lim will expand to include swimwear and shoes. When I asked about his next collaboration, he told me he's working on the Six Scents perfume project.

Hope you enjoy the weekend... And enjoy these weekend links!

If you are just catching up on Dream Sequins, pull up a chair and grab a cup of tea with me! I drooled with the ladies over Spock (played by Zachary Pinto) in the new Star Trek movie; interviewed the lovely Melissa Coker of sweet but edgy label, Wren; and got the skinny on "it Brit" designers from Brittique owner, Nicole Bremner. I also posted my first giveaway, a collection of amazing gifts to celebrate my 100th post: click here to enter now!

Eden: Thanks for stopping by!

Annie: Thanks for the comment! I agree Phillip Lim is awesome. I was telling people I wasn't a huge fan before, but I'm a huge fan now. He's a smart guy with subtle designs.

wrecked stellar: Thanks for stopping by! Yes, it was a wonderful cause and I think they raised a lot of money.

E: I would love to post a pic of my veil! That might have to be an upcoming post when our five year anniversary swings around. P.S. That's not a picture of my hubby-- it's designer Phillip Lim, although I do think my hubs is very fashionable ;)

Ashita: You're so sweet. I'm glad people are being so nice. I'm shy and don't really post a lot of pics of myself here!
