Part of my heart will always remain on the West Coast, and for this reason, it was such a delight to stumble upon Blackburn and Sweetzer while doing research on LA-based designers one day. The blog, edited by a journalist/writer who also happens to be a knowledgable resident of what she calls an "unusually walkable" neighborhood, serves up a delicious slice of fashion, shopping, culture, food and other happenings in the area. Even if you're not a resident of the City of Angels, you will find yourself entertained by the original content of the site. Please check out this interview with Tasha of Blackburn and Sweetzer. You'll probably find yourself pining, as I do, for the Blackburn and Sweetzer version of LA life!

Five Questions for My Favorite Bloggers

Who are you?

I'm a writer first and foremost—a print journalist, blogger, fiction writer. For the last year and a half, I've been pretty consumed with blogging though: first as the editor of RACKEDLA.COM through the end of 2008, and now, amping up the content for my blog BLACKBURNANDSWEETZER.COM.

Where are you?

I'm in Los Angeles in the midst of redesigning, relaunching and expanding my blog—many exciting developments, which I can't wait to come to fruition! I'm working with two colleagues to bring it to the next level. I will definitely keep you posted.

What is the concept behind your blog?

My blog is about a specific area of the city—roughly from West 3rd Street to Melrose Avenue, Robertson Boulevard to La Brea Avenue—in which I cover fashion and retail, restaurants, commercial and residential real estate, city politics, anything that comes in the purview of the area. That being said, I venture out of the area when I see fit—locally, nationally and internationally—but it always comes back to the neighborhood. With the relaunch, I will bring the same type of coverage to additional areas of the city.

When you are not blogging, what else do you enjoy doing?

Hanging out with my husband and cats, Newman and Grizzle. Yoga and hiking. Reading fiction. Long dinners and conversation with friends. Watching quality documentaries, movies and TV (think 'E2,' 'No Reservations' with Anthony Bourdain; I'm still missing the intricate quality of writing and story of 'The Wire'). Cooking. Going out to dinner. I would really love, love to travel more!

More importantly… what are you wearing? :)

In no particular order, my current heavy rotation: navy suede Pour la Victoire open-toe, lace-up heels with ivory piping; a vintage black velvet pencil skirt; blouse-y, white super soft cotton tanks and tees; pleated, khaki Reyes shorts; Gwenevere super skinny, ankle-grazing 7 For All Mankind jeans; tomato-hued capris from JCrew; and maxi dresses!

I always enjoy super-specialized blogs like Blackburn and Sweetzer. Even though I don't live in the neighborhood, I can tell that these writings are a labor of love, as opposed to many blogs that are just looking for a quick buck.

Thanks for posting this great interview!

Just wanted to let people know the bag pictured is Clare Vivier, an LA designer I love. I covered an event she did during fashion week here:

And definitely check out her site! Her bags are surprisingly reasonable:

And thank you for the very nice comments and to Dream Sequins for the awesome interview!
